Rhonda-Joy Sweeney

Rhonda-Joy Sweeney is in the process of submitting her PhD thesis through the Discipline of Medical Imaging Science at The University of Sydney, Australia. Her thesis title is ‘Mammographic Positioning Criteria for the Craniocaudal View: Knowledge and Preferences Explained through a Mixed Methods Design’. A publication arising from her initial studies has been published in the British Journal of Radiology, and is available online ( Sweeney, R. J. I., Lewis, S. J., Hogg, P., & McEntee, M. F. (2018). A review of mammographic positioning image quality criteria for the craniocaudal projection. British Journal of Radiology, 91(1082) 10.1259/bjr.2017061 Rhonda-Joy is also a Professional Teaching Fellow with the Medical Imaging programme, Department of Anatomy and Medical Imaging at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Her teaching is evidence-based to facilitate in the student a reflective and critical approach to best practice in order to provide optimal outcomes for the patient.

Michell Perkovic - Clinical Applications Specialist, Philips.

Michelle Perkovic, Clinical Applications Specialist, Philips,  will be presenting from Australia via zoom on breast elastography.
The field of breast elastography has seen significant and exciting technological and diagnostic advances in recent years.  Michelle will explore both the more traditional strain elastography and the newer quantitative shear wave elastography (elastQ). As well as giving a brief introduction to how  these technologies work, she will explore how the two modalities complement traditional breast ultrasound imaging, and how this more definitive information on tissue stiffness in and around lesions can improve diagnostic confidence and guide further clinical decisions.
In addition to Michelle's talk, Philips will be providing a hands-on breast elastography workshop on site. This workshop will demonstrate how easily these techniques can be added to current  ultrasound practice.  The workshop will run concurrently to the study day, facilitated by Fran Lowry, Clinical Applications Specialist, Philips.   Onsite delegates can book into one of the five workshops during the morning registration.

ISRRT World Congress, Dublin – New dates 18th-21st August 2021

World Congress International Society of Radiographers & Radiological Technologists - Postponed until 18th-21st August 2021

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, IIRTT and ISRRT have jointly decided to postpone the 21st World Congress to be held at the Convention Centre Dublin, Ireland from 26th to 29th August 2020 to the same venue on 18th to 21st August 2021. All registrations and sponsorship arrangements will be carried over to the new dates. We look forward to welcoming you to Dublin in August 2021 and are examining re-opening the Abstract submission process later this year and into early 2021 to take into account developments in our profession related to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Hotel agreements are being renegotiated for next year's dates by the PCO and the Irish planning committee.  Please refer to our website accommodation page for specific instructions for each individual hotel for those that have already booked accommodation.
