Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs)

Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs)

Timaru Hospital

1 x Permanent/Part-time,

1 x Fixed term/Contract/Part-time

We have two Medical Radiation Technologist roles coming available, both to work part-time at Timaru Hospital.

The first is fixed term to provide relief cover while one of our team is recovering post operatively, the other is a permanent role option.

The fixed term is a short spell from 6 September through until 18 October 2017, working 7-hour days (generally covering 5 days in week one and 4 days in week two, combined with some moderate on-call availability), so may suit someone who is presently uncommitted work wise, and considering a return to practice as a warm up to seeking a more permanent role, or just as a means to earn some extra “pocket money”, perhaps for that overseas trip.

The permanent role is for 8 hours per day 3 days per week (usually Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, again with some moderate on-call availability required) and is anticipated to start in late October.

For either role, you will of course need to be registered with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board as a Diagnostic Medical Radiation Technologist, and be experienced in all aspects of general radiography, while holding a current APC and drivers licence.

Typically, you will be used to working largely unsupervised, utilising your initiative appropriately, and together with your good interpersonal communication skills, provide comprehensive clinical MRT practice within our Radiology Department.

Having excellent planning and administrative abilities, with a logical approach to problem solving, are also considered desirable traits, and in return you will be practicing in a modern environment, with a team who have many years of experience between them and are a supportive happy bunch.
